The Legacy of Giving: How Operation Schoolchild Was Born
The roots of Operation Schoolchild run deep, originating from a profound legacy of compassion and community care. For the past 20 years, this mission has been a family affair, inspired by a father’s heart for his people and carried forward across generations.

Co FounderThe journey began in Kenya, Francis Wambua, a former congressman, used his political influence not just for governance but to uplift the community he so dearly loved. Growing up in the village of Ikombe, he and his family witnessed the struggles of their neighbors,.....

especially during Christmas—a time when many families couldn’t afford a decent meal. Determined to make a difference, they began hosting communal Christmas dinners, gathering villagers to share food, joy, and hope.

Part 3
Over time, their generosity extended beyond the holiday season. He saw the need for education and began sponsoring children who lacked the resources to attend school. As word spread of Mr. Wambua’s generosity, families came to him with countless needs, and he never turned them away.

Part 4
This spirit of giving was passed down to his children, who watched him lead with compassion. For his daughter, Scola Wambua and her siblings, it became second nature to help others.

Part 5
They began focusing their efforts on the children of several villages, providing food, clothing, and educational support. Every visit to back to Kenya became an opportunity to give back, where small acts of kindness were met with immense gratitude and strengthened her resolve to continue the work her father had started.

Part 6
Now, the next generation has joined the mission. Christy Kioko, the Scola’s 24-year-old daughter, has become an integral part of Operation Schoolchild. Over the past 10 years, she has partnered with her family to carry on this legacy, finding her own inspiration in the stories and needs of the children they serve.

Part 7
What began as one man’s dream to uplift his community has grown into a family-driven mission with a vision to empower children through education and support. Operation Schoolchild stands as a testament to the enduring impact of compassion and the belief that change begins with small acts of kindness.
